History
Company Beginnings
Uvaviña began operations in 1944, founded originally by José Molina Ramírez. He began to work very early in his life, always driven by his wishes to do better economically due to the fact that he himself grew up in a rural and empoverished neighborhood with little chance to succeed.
He worked in various modest positions until he had the chance to become a travelling agent. In time he began to discover the advantage of selling products and decided to become a businessman who could choose how to distribute and sell goods that society demanded.
During World War II there was a shortage of a lot of products. He began to follow what would be his greatest passion, preserving food. He experimented long hours and read many books to achieve what he had in mind. This is how a project that gave him both great joy and grief begun to operate in the central and northern part of Mexico.
When his oldest son was born he saw the possibility of his life’s work to be carried on; a company of modest size noteworthy due to the hard work invested in creating it.
He took the task of teaching his only son the family business’ mentality, often taking him on frequent train trips to Mexico City as both boy and teenager. He wanted to make his son understand the importance of fulfilling his own dreams to establish a great company.
José Molina Jr. began to acquaint himself with many of the company’s areas when he started to work in the family company. Previously he had not had a chance as he had been attending college.
After 2 years, he promoted the company’s steady and prosperous growth both in sales and organization.
José Jr. traveled to different parts of Mexico to promote his products and incorporated other food products into his own company. He also visited the USA in hopes of exporting his star product: The vanilla.
